Support Our Research

Philanthropic support accelerates discoveries that save lives. Your gift to the Semenov Lab enables research in AI in dermatology, AI in melanoma, cutaneous oncology, oncodermatology, and immune-mediated skin disease — and trains the next generation of physician-scientists in dermatology precision medicine.

Why It Matters

Turning Discovery Into Better Care

Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, and skin toxicities from checkpoint blockade and other cancer immunotherapies — including rash, pruritus, and severe immune-mediated skin disease and inflammatory skin disease — affect hundreds of thousands of cancer patients every year. Despite their clinical importance, these conditions remain poorly understood and understudied.

The Semenov Lab is at the forefront of applying AI in dermatology and AI in oncology to change this. Our research has already produced guidelines used globally, machine learning tools that predict melanoma recurrence with greater accuracy than standard staging, and pharmacovigilance systems that identify drug toxicities at health-system scale.

Philanthropic gifts provide the flexible, early-stage funding that federal grants cannot — enabling pilot studies, new computational infrastructure, and the training of young researchers who will carry this work forward.

Your Impact

What Your Gift Supports

Gifts to the Semenov Lab through the MGH Department of Dermatology fund work across three priority areas.

AI in Melanoma & Cutaneous Oncology

Funding pilot studies in AI in skin disease and computational work to develop AI in dermatology tools that predict melanoma recurrence, guide treatment decisions, and reduce overtreatment and undertreatment for patients with early-stage melanoma.

Checkpoint Blockade Toxicity & Immune-Mediated Skin Disease

Supporting research on skin toxicities from checkpoint blockade and immune-related adverse events — including rash, pruritus, immune-mediated skin disease, and inflammatory skin disease from immunotherapy — to improve diagnosis, management, and patient quality of life during cancer treatment.

Trainee & Fellowship Support

Enabling the next generation of physician-scientists through research fellowships, computational training stipends, and support for medical students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows to pursue careers in dermatology precision medicine, AI in dermatology, and oncodermatology.

Philanthropic support makes it possible to ask the boldest scientific questions — and to act on the answers in ways that directly benefit patients.
